Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath?

If we are truly a secular nation and have separated ourselves from God, what impact will this have on the foundations of our liberty and understanding of humanity?
 
Are we becoming a nation where we can be separated from our liberties? According to a Gallup poll from May of 2007, 86% of those surveyed believe in God.
